The Best Card Trick I Know

Magician

Card tricks have always been a favorite of mine. They are simple, yet can be incredibly entertaining and impressive. I've tried many card tricks over the years, but there's one that I always come back to. It's the best card trick I know, and today I'm going to share it with you.

The Set-Up

Deck Of Cards

To begin, you'll need a standard deck of playing cards. Before you start the trick, take the four aces out of the deck and set them aside. Shuffle the remaining cards thoroughly.

The Trick

Card Trick

Start by spreading the shuffled deck face down on a table. Ask your audience member to pick any card from the deck and remember it. Then, have them place the card back in the deck.

Next, cut the deck in half and place one half on top of the other. Then, take the four aces you set aside earlier and place them on top of the deck.

Now, here's where it gets interesting. Spread the cards face down on the table again. As you do so, look for the aces. Once you find one, place it face up on the table. Repeat this until all four aces are face up on the table.

The audience will be impressed at this point, but the trick isn't over yet. Take the four face up aces and place them on top of the deck. Then, give the deck a quick shuffle.

Now, ask the audience member to name their card. Begin to deal the cards face down on the table one by one, until you come to the audience member's chosen card. When you turn it over, it will be one of the aces!

The Explanation

Playing Cards

So, how does this trick work? The secret lies in the set-up. When you place the four aces on top of the shuffled deck, you are essentially creating a key card. This means that when the deck is shuffled, you will always know where the aces are.

When you spread the cards face down on the table, you are looking for the aces. By placing them face up on the table, you are essentially marking them. This allows you to keep track of them even after you shuffle the deck.

When you ask the audience member to name their card, you begin dealing the cards face down on the table. Because you know where the aces are, you can count the cards until you come to the key card. The card directly after the key card will be the audience member's chosen card!
